Happy Birthday Travis Knight! His father, Phil Knight, is of course the founder and chairman of Nike. He is invested in Will Winton and Travis was an animator there for The PJs (2000) and Gary & Mike (2001). Travis was placed on the board of directors and when Will Vinton left the studio, it was reorganized into Laika Studios. He was lead animator for Coraline (2009), and was also lead animator and producer for ParaNorman (2012), and The Boxtrolls (2014). I interviewed the stars of The Boxtrolls; Elle Fanning (Winnie Portley-Rind), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Eggs), Sir Ben Kingsley (Snatcher), the directors, and Travis Knight.

Travis was nominated with directors Anthony Stacchi and Graham Annable for Best Animated Feature Film for The Box Trolls (2014). He directed, produced, and was an animator on Kubo and the Two-Strings (2015). Travis was nominated along with Arianne Sutner for Kubo and The Two Strings as Best Animated Feature Film at the Academy Awards. It won the BAFTA He currently has Bumblebee, the Transformers movie, that he directed coming out on December 21st! Travis is producing Laika’s next film, Missing Link, to be released on April 19th next year. Happy Birthday Travis Knight!
