The Outpost, “Beyond the Wall”, Review!

In a Plagueling attack on the camp, Garet is bitten on the leg, infected!  He takes refuge at Janzo’s basement, but both he and Talon were away looking for colipsum.  Janzo and Talon return through the gate and the gatekeeper checks on their wares.  She pays the gatekeeper for what he says is barley.  They reach the tavern and get a drink.  The Mistress calls for Janzo.  She broke her arm when he was away.  He has brought back 30 shares of coliseum and she is happy, double the shares, and it comes from Greyskins.  He stomps off to his room in the basement.  Janzo is startled by Garet who wants Janzo to kill him.  Talon walks down to see Garet sweating from the Plagueling bite.  Janzo says it is another day before he turns into a Plagueling.  Garet sends off Janzo to find Gwyn.  He wants Talon to kill him when the time comes.  I don’t fear that Garet is in danger though the situation is inevitable. 

Everitt Dred orders the killing of the woman he says is the last Blackblood.  He explains it to Ilyn, the girl, that she has to die so that others can live.  In the mines, Whythers wakes to find himself in a cell over a cliff.  Sill, who saved him from a beating, tells him to enjoy the view and Whythers says he loved the Mistress.  He attempts to leap off, but holds a knife to him until he knocks it away.  He seems to be in a trap of his own making.  Naya smiles at Janzo and he says that Garet is dying.  He says goodbye and has Talon take her away.  Night at the Outpost, Gwyn confides that she thought Garet would last as a soldier, she says Talon also has feelings for him.  Janzo has a liquid that Garet drinks and then falls asleep.  The Love Triangles seem to be straightening out, Garet with Talon and Janzo with Naya.

Danno comes to Gwn’s room and she says she found Garet so calls off the search.  She notices he bows to her and reveals that Danno’s throat was burned by the Prime Order protesting at the death of his wife.  Talon finds in a book an image that is the temple which holds the Book of Names.  It is located in Greyskin territory.  Garet wakes after taking the poison to kill the parasite.  He wants to go with Talon since he has two days.  Day, the hunteress sent by Dred, Essa Khan, watches a Greyskin walk next to a canyon.  The Outpost, Talon and Janzo are using ropes to descend from the walls.  Garet is setting the rope when Gwyn walks up.  She kisses him, not so sick from the Plagueling, and he can also climb down the Outpost.  Most people infected by Plaguelings can barely move, either Janzo’s poison worked, or Garet is superhuman!   

Garet asks Talon to chain him in case he turns into a Plagueling.  Day, they make their way through canyons with Janzo complaining.  They are attacked by a Greyskin that uses a club, Talon slices it and Janzo frees Garet to use his sword.  He is thrown back and the Greyskin knocks out Talon and Garet.  It’s face is burned by a liquid poured by Janzo.  A Greyskin is stabbed in the back by Essa Khan.  Night, by a campfire next to the canyon walls, Talon asks Janzo what he used to kill the Greyskin.  Janzo says it was acid and explains that he meant to pour it down Garet’s throat when he turned into a Plagueling.  Garet asks Talon to chain him up.  Talon sleeps next to Janzo and he feels used.  Elsewhere, Essa Khan cooks the arm of the Greyskin and eats a chunk of it!  It seems like Essa Khan is like the warriors who seem to take the essence of their defeated opponents, cannibalism!, or she is awful hungry.

Day, The Outpost, a guard stands watch and sees Everitt Dred’s solders and sets off the alarm bell.  Calkussar is informed about the appearance of the army.  He tells Gwyn she has to hide.  Calkussar goes to the wall to greet Ambassador Dred.  He asks about his Covenant patrol.  Dred wants the gates to be opened and Calkussar gives the order.  Dred rides in with Ilyn and the soldiers.  Gwyn tells Naya that they have to leave.  Dred kills Calkussar with a sword when he walks up.  Gwyn sees this from the window.  He screams that he wants the daughter of Calkussar and the Blackblood.  We have Dred moving in closer to facing Talon.  Where are the demonic Locuri?  Everything seems to be rolling to a climax.
