The Colossus base on the watery planet Castellon, a shuttle comes in for a landing, directed by Yeager. The mechanic, Tam Ryvora, is uncertain about the job. Kaz asks BB-8 what he will need to be a spy. BB-8 says he will work as a mechanic. It doesn’t seem like Kaz is kept as a racing pilot here. I like that BB-8 is on the show, he’s a fan favorite, but it doesn’t make sense since astro-droids are needed as navigators so Poe Dameron will be without one! Neeku interrupts them and marvels at Kaz’s possessions including his trophy. Yeager calls over Kaz and gives him a box of parts. Yeager walks with Duro (green skin, dome head) Hallion (Jonathan Lipow). Kaz asks Neeku about the First Order and Neeku is electrocuted by Kaz’s distraction. I keep thinking that Neeku is the Jar Jar Binks of the show. The ship overloads and Kaz shuts it down. Tam is angry at him. Kaz tries to explain he worked on Coruscant and Tam asks him if he was in the Mechanics Academy. At their base, Yeager hands out payment, Kaz gets only one credit. We haven’t really seen credits before, we hear about them, but this is new. He wants Kaz to go to Acquisitions to get a part. BB-8 goes along with Kaz. He clumsily sneaks along the food market.
STAR WARS: RESISTANCE -- “The Triple Dark” -- Disney/Lucasfilm. |
He overhears two alien Snivvians (same species as Snaggletooth) arguing. Then, the Aleena, Grevel, is still angry over Kaz not paying his darts bet. He hands over his one credit. Kaz runs with two Snivvians behind him. The Aleena trips up Kaz and then the Snivvians have him by the arms. Kaz’s trophy falls out and Grevel wants to take it. BB-8 shocks Bolza Dool’s leg causing him to throw a box of fish to splatter on the thugs. BB-8 and Kaz hide in a box which is taken away by droids. He ends up at Acquisitions with Flix and Orka and orders the compressor. Kaz takes out the credits and his trophy falls out, Orka wants to buy it, but Kaz refuses. Tam is angry that he is late. Hallion reminds Yeager that he can’t be late. Tam reminds Kaz to install the compressor turned right to left not left to right. Kaz overhears Hallion communications to Kragan (Gary Anthony Williams) about “The Triple Dark” and accidentally knocks his communicator down a grill. His shuttle takes off. Yeager tells Kaz that he has keep his cover as a mechanic. Alone, Kaz talks to BB-8 about the trophy from his first race. A Rodian says that the storm is a “Triple Dark” and that Kragon is a pirate. Kragan looks like a Quarren (the Squid Head alien from Return of the Jedi with some of his facial tentacles severed). Kaz is about to warn everyone, but is faced with Grevel with a blaster. The pirate ships are about the descend.
The storm rages outside of Colossus, an alarm is sounded as the base defenses are activated, the pirate ships make a strafing run. The pilots rush to their ships and engage the pirates before they hit the power generator. Kaz is thrown by an explosion and clings to a pirate ship window before falling with Grevel. He uses his trophy, crushed, so Grevel can slip through a door. Nice to see a battle without the main character and also Torra leading the defense. Kaz goes to reach for Hallion’s fallen communicator, BB-8 uses a cable to bring it up. Kaz sends a feedback into the pirates comm systems. Kragan calls for a retreat. Kaz says that he and BB-8 are a good team. Yeager, Neeku, Tam, and Bucket walk in as Kaz is working on a ship. It’s engine sputters. Kaz can’t convince Yeager that Hallion was working for the pirates. TIE fighters head towards a Star Destroyer. Major Vonreg, in the red stormtrooper pilot armor, talks to a hologram of Kragan and his men. Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) walks in suspicious about the pirates’ effectiveness. It is nice that Christie is voicing a cameo, but it remains to be seen if the Captain Phasma part will be developed. Kragan says that Doza will be ready to take the Colossus. An average episode, Kaz is learning, Tam is annoying, and the action is still Star Wars!
