Heroes in Crisis #4 Review!

Clay Mann art returns with this issue, “$%@# This”, continuing with Tom King’s story.  The Ryan Sook cover has a photograph of Aquaman’s loss of his hand from Peter David’s Aquaman #2 (1994). At a bar is the drunken Garth, formerly Aqualad, now Tempest.  He passes out and then we get another two pager with Donna Troy, Troia once known as Wonder girl , effortlessly walking with him on her shoulder as they pass a billboard with the classic Teen Titans.  We see Wonder Girl and Aqualad on either end, all smiles.  Then, we get the confession page of Donna Troy, I was shocked, but she may or may not be one of the Sanctuary victims.  She discusses whether the city of Troy is real.  Next, we get Flash and Batman discussing the murderer and they are divided.  Probably the World’s Greatest Detective is right.

We get Booster Gold with his wrists tied by the Lasso of Truth, he is questioned by Wonder Woman, and explains how Harley Quinn knocked him out in Sanctuary with her hammer.  He doesn’t know how she got past his shield and just woke up later as we saw in Heroes in Crisis #1.  Then, we get Lois Lane in her Superman t-shirt in the apartment with the Daily Planet globe behind her.  Mann’s art is stunning. I recall his art in Batman #36-37, part of the Super Friends arc.  If you ever wonder why Batman could ever fall for Catwoman and why Superman chose Lois Lane, pick up those issues and you will understand, a perfect blend of story and art.  Lois is struggling with a secret that she has shared with Clark.  She joins him in bed.  Then, we get the confession(?) of Batgirl removing her utility belt to show her scars.  She faces Harley Quinn in her full make-up and costume in a mirrored room.  Harley Quinn beats up Batgirl who isn’t there to fight.  Fist catches fist and then turns into clasping hands.  Batgirl hugs Harley Quinn.  Again, one of the best Harley Quinn scenes with the Clay Mann art and Tom King story.

Black Canary and Green Arrow are going to settle some disagreements over a seaside cliff.  Next to the Amnesty Bay lighthouse or another one?  We get the confession of Black Canary, but she quickly walks out.  At the Hall of Justice, Booster Gold’s friend, Blue Bettle, asks him if he is murderer.  He has his craft, The Bug, smash into the Hall of Justice to free them with their code, “Bros Before Heroes.”  Love it.  We get the Batcave, one hour ago, Wonder Woman is angry at the loss of Booster Gold and smashes down the giant penny.  It first appeared in World’s Finest #30 (1947).  Batman mentions the dinosaur also a Batcave trophy.  Superman explains to the rest of the Trinity that there is a secret.  Lois Lane has the Sanctuary videos, the confessions, and she sent her story 35 seconds ago.   Batman says he is angry enough to break the dinosaur, love it!  The Sanctuary story is out and Batgirl gets word of it with fills Harley Quinn with joy. We are closer to assembling the puzzle pieces, still with the mystery behind what caused the murders of Sanctuary with the cryptic Puddlers message.

Five Pieces of Peach Pie out of Five!
