The visuals today are fantastic in part due to the nominees of Best Visual Effects:

The style of characters is seen in these nominees for Best Hair and Make-up:
Black Panther, Mary Queen of Scots, Suspira, The Favourite, and Vice. The award for Best Hair and Make-up goes to The Favourite!
Our next group of nominees starts with the written word with Best Original Screenplay:
Bo Burnham (Eighth Grade), Alfonso Cuaron (Roma), Deborah Davis and Tony Namara (The Favourite), Paul Schrader (First Reformed), and Bryan Woods, Scott Beck, and John Krasinski (A Quiet Place). The winner is - Bo Burnham for Eighth Grade!
Next, we have the Best Adapted Screenplay:
Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim (Crazy Rich Asians), Joe Robert Cole and Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), Barry Jenkins (If Beale Street Could Talk), Eric Roth, Bradley Cooper, and Will Fetters (A Star is Born), and Charlie Wachtel, David Rabinowitz, Kevin Willmott and Spike Lee (BlacKkKlansman). The Best Adapted Screenplay winter is Barry Jenkins, If Beale Street Could Talk!
The pacing of a film and it’s structure shines with the Best Editing nominees:
Jay Cassidy (A Star is Born), Tom Cross (First Man), Alfonso Cuaron and Adam Gough (Roma), Nick Johnson and Will Merrick (Searching), and Yorgos Mavropsaridis (The Favourtie). The Best Editing winner is First Man edited by Tom Cross!
The look of the sets can stun with the nominees for Best Production Design:
