Happy Birthday Alan Tudyk! One of his early roles was in the comedy Patch Adams (1998). I took note of Alan as the supportive, but sarcastic Wat in A Knight’s Tale (2001). Alan provided voices in the animated Ice Age (2002). A well known role was Hoban `Wash’ Washburne, the most incredible pilot in sci fi, in Josh Whedon’s Firefly (2002-2003). He brilliantly played Sonny in the adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s classic, I, Robot (2004). Tudyk was in the sci fi film capping the end of Firefly with Serenity (2005), “I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar.” Alan returned to Ice Age: The Meltdown in 2006. He provided several voices to the animated Astro Boy (2009). He was one of the leads in the horror comedy Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010). Another fun role was as Stephen Douglas in the adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012), one of my favorite recent horror movies and use of 3D.
Tudyk started his association with Disney animation voicing King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph (2012). He had a hilarious performance as voicing Duke Weselton in Frozen (2013). Alan was the voice of the ambitious businessman, Alistair Krei, in Big Hero 6 (2014). Alan begun his own creator owned series, Con Man, and played Wray Nerely, a former sci fi actor now working at conventions. Then, he was the sly thief, Duke Weselton, in Zootopia (2016). Alan’s true acting ability was as the chicken, Heihei in Moana (2016). He was incredible as security droid K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). Another favorite part for me is as Van Wayne, the cousin to Bruce Wayne, in the superhero sitcom Powerless (2017). He returned as K-2SO in the VR experience Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire. He returned to voice Alistar Krei in Big Hero 6: The Series and Then, he plays a new character, KnowsMore in Ralph Breaks the Internet. He currently plays Mr. Nobody in the Doom Patrol series on the DC Universe streaming serivce. It was just announced that Tudyk voices Iago in Aladdin out on May 24th! Happy Birthday Alan Tudyk!
