Happy Birthday Ben Mendelsohn! A first film for Mendelsohn was The Still Point (1986), a drama about a teenage girl. One of his first early work was on the long running soap opera, Neighbours (1986-1987). Mendelsohn was in the Australian western, Quigley Down Under (1990) playing O’Flynn. An early genre role was playing Sko in the “I-Yensch, You-Yensch” (2002) episode of the sci fi show Farscape. He played Captain Dutton in the drama, Australia (2008). Mendelsohn entered the realm of comic book films with The Dark Knight Rises (2012) as rival of Bruce Wayne, John Daggett.
Then, he voiced Sun Thief in the Axe Cop (2013-2015) animated series. In 2014, Mendelsohn played Dave, a mysterious banker, in Lost River, a dark fantasy film directed and written by Ryan Gosling. An iconic role for Mendelsohn was as Director Orson Krennic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). He played King George VI in the biographical drama, Darkest Hour (2017). Next, he was Sorrento in Ready Player One (2018) adapting the Ernest Cline novel. Mendelsohn also played the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood (2018). This year, he entered the MCU playing the shapeshifting Skrull, Talso, in Captain Marvel. Happy Birthday Ben Mendelsohn!
