Happy Birthday Travis Knight! His father, Phil Knight, is of course the founder and chairman of Nike. He is invested in Will Winton and Kngiht was an animator there for The PJs (2000) and Gary & Mike (2001). Knight was placed on the board of directors and when Will Vinton left the studio, it was reorganized into Laika Studios. He was lead animator for Coraline (2009), and was also lead animator and producer for ParaNorman (2012), and The Boxtrolls (2014). I interviewed the stars of The Boxtrolls; Elle Fanning, Isaac Hempstead Wright, the directors, and Travis Knight.

Travis Knight was nominated with directors Anthony Stacchi and Graham Annable for Best Animated Feature Film for The Box Trolls (2014). He directed, produced, and was an animator on Kubo and the Two-Strings (2015). Knight was nominated along with Arianne Sutner for Kubo and The Two Strings as Best Animated Feature Film at the Academy Awards. It won the BAFTA. He also directed Bumblebee, the Transformers movie, which came out December 21st last year! Travis Knight produced Laika’s latest film, Missing Link, which was released on Blu Ray.
