The Missing Part of Clone Wars: The Final Season!

There were usually 22 episodes for the Clone Wars seasons.  The Lost Missions, sixth season, had 13 episodes and The Final Season had 12.  The Clone Wars voice cast noted the villain voices, but they were largely left out of Final Season promotions.  The strangest part of the final season of Clone Wars is the omission of the Asaaj Ventress arc.  She was introduced in the Genndy Tartakovsky Star Wars: Clone Wars Chapter 6 (2003). Ventress was brought into canon with the Clone Wars (2008) movie voiced by NIka Futterman.  Dooku was testing her in an arena and she boasted that she was a Sith.  Sidious asked Dooku to kill Anakin and Darth Tyranus gives dual lightsabers to Ventress as a test.  She faces Anakin on Yavin IV in their first duel and scars him with her lightsaber.  This was in the second season, Chapter 19 (2004), of the Clone Wars.

Note that also missing is the episodes that made up the comic book series, Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir.  This is complicated outside of the series and we just see Maul in the Siege of Mandalore.  It is possible that the Clone Wars wanted those parts of the story to be in novel and comic book form, but there could changes to make them fresh like the changes that were in the Siege of Mandalore arc.  The Asaaj Ventress arc again planned as episodes of Clone Wars; ”Lethal Alliance", "The Mission", "Conspirators", "Dark Disciple", "Saving Vos Part I", "Saving Vos Part II", "Traitor", and "The Path.” They were adapted in the novel, Dark Disciple (2015) by Christie Golden.  The Jedi Council decides to end the Clone Wars by assassinating Count Dooku.  They had already tried taking him hostage.

The Council has Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos bring Asajj Ventress for the assassination attempt.  In Legends, Vos was introduced in the Dark Horse Star Wars #17 (2000) comic book.  The "Hunt for Ziro" (2010) episode made him canon.  Al Rodrigo voiced the character.  Vos trains Ventress so she's a Jedi, a Sith, a bounty hunter, just about everything in the SW universe.  They work for Pyke Syndicate boss, Marg Krim, who was in the Martez Sisters arc.  Ventress takes Vos to Dathomir to corrupt him Grievous (Matthew Wood who also voices the battle droids) and Dooku (Corey Burton provides the voice) fight Ventress and Vos.  Ian Abercrombie voiced Darth Sidious.  Of course, we know that Dooku escapes, and he takes Vos prisoner.  Dooku shows Vos the truth that Ventress killed his master Tholme.

Ventress gets her former bounty hunters a group called Krayt’s Claw at 1313 including Bossk and Boba Fett. Daniel Logan returned to voice the teenaged Fett.  They launch a rescue which is successful, but she notices that Vos is turning to the dark side.  Anakin and Obi-Wan get involved.  The Jedi Council sends Vos again to assassinate Dooku.  It seems like the Jedi are suddenly blood thirsty.   He has Ventress follow him.  Dooku escapes (again) with Vos.  They crash on Christophsis, the crystal world at the beginning of the Clone Wars movie, Dooku faces Vos and Ventress.  This is a resolution of the Asaaj Ventress character.  She would be a loose end with Order 66.  The part that gives me the most pause is that Clone Wars isn’t just the Jedi, there are many great actors with the villains; Futterman, Burton, and Logan.  It really feels like something was missing in the Final Season.
