Re:cap - Vigilante’s fight the bad guys in prison scheme fails, he says Auggie is “bad dad”, and immediately Auggie asks to talk to Detective Song. Vigilante is freed and admits to Emilia that Auggie is alive. Chris dances as we see when he was a kid (Quinn Bennett) and told by his father to kill a man that has his father smiling. He flashes back to killing Rick Flag in The Suicide Squad (2021). Chris sees his brother, Keith (Liam Hughes) falling and then frothing at the mouth. The jar with the butterfly and Eagly are at his side. At the headquarters, Leota finds a Glan Tal bottling company card that matches with a worker id from Annie Sturphausen’s purse. On his couch, Murn gets the call from Leota, then lowers his butterfly tongue into a bowl! A big surprise!, which is why Waller put her daughter on this team?
In his kitchen, Chris prepares a glass with an egg and hot sauce, anti-hangover?, he drinks it as Eagly squawks. He pours a glass of the honey substance for the butterfly. Eagly flies away. He drops an animal for Chris. At her apartment, Leota is getting ready for work, then her wife Keeya stops by. The wife whom she has been ignoring calls and Leota walks out the door. In her car, Leota gets a text from her mom, Amanda Waller, about placing the Peacemaker diary at his trailer. At the office, Murn debriefs the team about the butterflies, they are distracted by Economos’ graphics and Peacemaker’s belief in things he learned on Google. He goes on to make Leota’s connections. Peacemaker is still angry at Economos for setting up his father and gives a long list of alternatives. Murn sends them to Glan Tal. He is a double agent, what is his purpose sabotaging their butterfly food supply? Detective Song meets with Auggie. He puts the blame on his son.
Leota is frustrated that Peacemaker is rough on Economos. Vigilante says Chris is a bully. Auggie has his fingerprints taken, the officer is kinda clueless who to send the fingerprints to Detective Sophia. Emilia is driving the van and Economos brings up the band, Hanoi Rocks. A little respect between him and Peacemaker. At Murn’s apartment, he meets with a mysterious contact (Christopher Heyerdahl), sent by Amanda Waller. He is also in the dance intro with Detective Song and Fitzgibbon! The police station, Larry brings Annie the prints that match up with Chris Smith, they meet with neighbors Evan and Amber who admit the truth. Peacemaker is ready with a rifle and Vigilante wants to bring a chainsaw, but a look from Emilia has him dropping it. Emilia teams up with Vigilante and Leota with Peacemaker. They walk into the Glan Tal office, Peacemaker activates x-ray vision on his helmet, and then starts blasting employee heads! Leota reports to Economos that butterflies are everywhere.
Emilia and Vigilante sneak into the warehouse, she cuts open a box, and reveals a jar of the butterfly honey. Peacemaker fires on a guard rushing up behind the door. The warehouse group sees a security guard make a super leap. Peacemaker kills more workers and Leota shoots them again. Vigilante and Emilia have snuck up to the honey factory, one sees her, and screeches a la Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978). I like this touch. They start to run as workers leap through the windows and lock up a gate to fire on the butterflies. Next, they run to a barred door in a computer room. Peacemaker shoots a worker who says the others are with Charlie, the guardian angel of the butterflies? Emilia checks a computer and are startled by some creature. Economos has lost contact with Emilia and Vigilante. Leota and Peacemaker reach the honey factory and see the workers battering at the door. Peacemaker has a grenade tied to Russian tank shell. He tosses it at the butterflies which makes for a terrific explosion.
Economos has lost contact with everyone! The factory is in flames, Leota checks out the room, and then she screams, “Gorilla!” The gorilla tosses around Peacemaker and the rest of the team that try to shoot him. It cries, “Die human!”, Charlie seems like an intelligent gorilla from the comics' Gorilla City except with the butterfly enhancement. Still, the day is saved by a chainsaw wielded by Economos. This impresses Peacemaker. They rock out in the van ride back driven by Leota. Peacemaker gets approval from Emilia who takes a cellphone pic of the victorious group. The team is working together, but this is probably when all things go wrong. Auggie is angry and the prison guard says to Annie that his fingerprints match. Sophie tries to find out what is the situation and the contact introduces himself as Captain Locke. She is frustrated that Locke says she is not a forensic expert, but that the two witnesses have placed the blame on Christopher Smith, Peacemaker. He orders Sophie to take the night off. Peacemaker has the team closer to the truth about butterflies, aliens using humans temporarily as they try to save their world?
