Hollywood Show: Part 2 - July 1, 2023!

The Hollywood Show returns to Los Angeles to the Los Angeles Marriot Burbank Convention Center! Today was the final day with the show starting on Friday, June 30th. There were 82 celebrities attending this show including William Shatner who had his own panel and Melendy Britt and Alan Oppenheimer featured on a Masters of the Universe Reunion Panel. The first person I saw was Cynthia Rothrock who starred in Yes Madam! (1985) with Michelle Yeoh! She is the first woman to be on the cover of Karate Illustrated, August 1981, with she had copies available at her table. Rothrock is the executive producer, co-writer, and stars as Rose Jennings in Black Creek, a Western action movie! There is currently a Kickstarter with some behind the scenes features, check it out at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crothrock/black-creek-a-western-action-film-from-cynthia-rothrock

Next, was James Pax, who of course starred as Lightning, one of The Three Storms in Big Trouble in Little China (1986). Pax had a very cool Big Trouble in Little China shirt with Lightning. He has upcoming, Shaolin Warriors 7, a television show that Pax is writing and executive producing. Check out his site at: https://jamespax.com. Another highlight for me was seeing Denis Lawson. The character appears in the X-Wing: Rogue Squadron series of novels by Michael A. Stackpole. Wedge Antilles was also in the Star Wars: Rebels episode, “The Antilles Extraction” (2016). Lawson voices Wedge in the Star Wars: Visions episode, “I Am Your Mother.” He narrated the audiobook of Heir to the Empire (2007) which I noted was the first time I noticed the accents in Star Wars. Also, that the non-Jedi in Rogue One (2016) had already been done with Wedge, who destroyed the Death Star II without Force powers. Barbara Carrera starred as Natalia Rambova a spy who inspires Laser Lady in Condorman (1981). I was fortunate to have a copy of the comic book, Condorman #2! The actress also starred as Fatima Blush in Never Say Never Again (1983) with Sean Connery as James Bond.

Mark Anthony Austin with signed Boba Fett photo and standee!

I had a great chat with Mark Anthony Austin who played Boba Fett in Star Wars: A New Hope Special Edition. He filmed the part on a blue screen using footage from the 1977 movie. Austin worked on the dewbacks added to the special edition as supervising animator. For The Third Floor Inc., Austin was head of animation, and detailed the scene in The Avengers (2012) where Bruce Banner transforms into the Hulk and hits the Chitauri Leviathan what was called Jumbo! His website is at: https://www.markanthonyaustin.com. Melendy Britt is well known as the voice of She-Ra in the Filmation series, She-Ra: Princess of Power. She also voiced Batgirl in The New Adventures of Batman. Britt played Sophie in the brilliant comedy film, Being There (1979). Gran Gran was voiced by Britt in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Find out more about Melendy Britt at her website: http://www.melendybritt.com. The next Hollywood Show will be on October 6th to uth! It is always great to see the many talented celebritites at the Hollywood Show!
