She-Hulk, “Whose Show is This?” - Part Two, Review!

The finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is here and now the conclusion, spoilers ahead of course!  Jen lost her job at GLK & H, an aftermath of her rage at the Lawyer of the Year ceremony, all due to Intelligencia revealing private videos of her.  Mallory gets Jen out of the Supermax Prison with the same deal as Emil Blonsky, she has to wear the inhibitor on her ankle that takes away her powers.  Nowhere to turn to, Jen goes to Blonsky’s retreat, Summer’s Twilight. Dirk offers her a drink, don’t trust it, I sense a knockout drug.  He tells Jen that Emil is at the lodge.  Nikki has taken Pug to infiltrate the Intelligencia meeting.  There he meets Todd Phelps who says he created Intelligencia, du-du-dun!  Todd introduces his crowd of fools (wearing “Seize Your True Power” shirts) to a guest speaker who was costly.  In the audience is the hard hat of including a guy in a helmet, Bulldozer (Tennison Barry III), and another in a ski mask, Thunderball (Justin Eaton).  So most if not all of the Wrecking Crew is there!  They were Introduced in “People vs. Emil Blonsky.” I didn’t see Josh, where’s Josh who recorded Jen?

The guest speaker is the Abomination.  I’m not certain how he disabled his inhibitor that was the cause of the parole officer investigating in “The Retreat.”  Emil enters in his guru whites getting the crowd fired up for “seizing their goal.”  Jen walks up the steps to the lodge and walks into the meeting.  They don’t notice her until she asks, “Emil?”  He transforms back.  The members are confused and Emil tries to explain he does speaking engagements, wonder how he got the money to run the retreat?  Then, Nikki bursts in next to Pug who explains that they are Intelligencia and that Todd is HulkKing.  Todd reveals that he hired Josh and also that her blood was also taken.  He takes out a syringe with the green blood and injects himself!  Jen asks the Fourth Wall if Todd’s transformation will work.  As Todd is writhing, twisted into a Hulk, Jen notes that she can’t believe the direction of the season.  Then, Titania breaks through a wall!  Abomination picks up Jen to keep the less than Intelligenica from attacking her.  Next, we have another guest star, The Strongest One There Is, The Hulk!

Hulk takes on The Abomination.  Actually, this is the first time that the Mark Ruffalo met Tim Roth's Abomination.  Jen is confused and then the Disney Plus menu comes up with all of the Marvel titles shown.  A streaming show doesn’t get better than this series!  Jen says she’s going to break the inhibitor and then climbs out of the She-Hulk window!  Fourth Wall awesomeness!  She looks around the titles and then swings towards the Marvel Studios Assembled window!  Then, she ends up on the set, too meta!, and walks out into Disney Studios in sunny Burbank!  Sorry, other superhero shows, you haven’t entered the set and studio where you were filmed!  I think there was a cameo of Alan Menken outside of the Team Disney Building, the cafeteria is actually a little further back and to the left.  She-Hulk slips into the She-Hulk production office.  The writer’s room is discussing the second season when She-Hulk enters.  She says that finale is stupid, slams the table, and told that the finale was wanted by Kevin.  Show creator, Jessica Gao, is played by Eden Lee.   Supervising producer and writer, Zeb Wells (Justin Miles), is also at the writers table.  Wells does appear in the show as Ham Guy.  She-Hulk wants to see Kevin and they all laugh.  She walks over to the Disney Studios offices and has to fill out a non-disclosure agreement. Then, the receiptionist activates an alarm.

She makes short work of Marvel security and then enters a room with multiple screens showing the Hulk in MCU movies.  I would have liked to see what Bruce and his time on Sakaar for the show.  This is like Neo meeting the Architect in The Matrix Reloaded (2003).  A probe descends named K.E.V.I.N. which it says is Knowledge Enhanced Visutal Interconnectivity Nexus.  The visual cams on it are in primary colors, nice.  He needs her to transform back to Jen off camera since the visual effects team have moved on.  Yup, it is a robot that makes all of the decisons of the MCU, but I think like Wizard of Oz, someone is behind the curtains.  Jen says it is a legal show so she is going to give her closing argument.  She explains the Marvel Cinematic Universe formula and that her blood is like the Super Soldier Serum.  Just Jen doesn’t mention that the blood was set from the pilot and needed to be resolved somehow, plot hole.  Jen poses to K.E.V.I.N. that she was learning how to be She-Hulk and Jen, this finale changes the show.

K.E.V.I.N. agrees and changes the blood plot since Todd is the villain as he is, plus also Bruce Banner’s appearance.  She adds that she also wants to see Daredevil. Next, Jen discusses the daddy issues with the heroes in the MCU, funny.  She asks K.E.V.I.N. about the X-Men and gives a thumbs up to the Fourth Wall.  Jen says she has thoughts about season 2, but K.E.V.I.N. has fixed her meta jumping.  She tells it that smashing things is what Hulks do like she smashes “fourth walls and bad endings.”  The joke afterwards is too good to spoil.  Jen asks Kevin if she should be back as She-Hulk.  We get a day time scene of the police arriving at Summer’s Twilight.  Titania is live streaming on her phone as She-Hulk calls out Todd.  She walks up to him turning back to Just Jen and says she will see him in court.  Daredevil suddenly lands and he is there to help?  Jen tells him that it is over and Pug is stunned that “they are a thing.”  She walks over to Emil to sign a document to send him back to prison for ten years.  Jen also violated her inhibitor condition.  Matt Murdock joins the Walters family lunch on the porch.

Morris says that raising kids in L.A. is expensive.  Bruce joins them.  He says he has been away at Sakaar and introduces everyone to his son, Skaar (Wil Deusner), Planet Hulk!  Jen doesn’t tell the Fourth Wall that cameos are set ups for later appearances.  Then, we get a news report that She-Hulk is cleared of charges.  What about Josh?  She says that she will go after anyone who harms innocent people.  The reporter (Sean Earley) asks if she means as a lawyer or superhero?  Jen says both.  Remember that she didn’t like to be a superhero at the beginning of the show.  She is then asked about who designed her outfit, no Luke?  In the credit scene, we see K.E.V.I.N. reading Savage She-Hulk #1. Todd is taken to court with She-Hulk watching him.  End credit scene, Emil is back in his cell, when Wong arrives from his portal.  He asks if Wong went into another show.  Asking for a friend, but where is Madisynn?  She was connected with Wong.  Emil asks him questions about Kamar-Taj. The Wrecking Crew are there so are they in jail?  What happened to Josh?, what was his motivation, and what about Jen’s blood?  Still, the show took risks, just didn’t work for some fans, but on the whole fun.  The She-Hulk finale is mixed bag of really great Fourth Wall breaks, comments about superhero movies, great guest stars, but still loses focus here and there and has dangling plot holes and unresolved threads.
