L.A. Comic Con: Day One - Saturday!

Today was the first day for me at the L.A. Comic Con nestled in the Los Angeles Convention Center. This began on December 1st Friday, and concludes tomorrow, Dec. 3, Sunday. I was familiar with the convention and worked there once so it was great to return to it. My focus was my two autogaphs. The first was for Natasha Liu Bordizzo. At the concourse hall, it snaked around directed by the convention personnel, then we were led into the hall with the guests. It was a long hall with guests on either side with tables.

On the far side, we were led to the next queue area, across from the Matt Smith line. The Ahsoka actors were behind curtains to cut off photos when there was photo ops. I have seen selfies and just casual photos with actors that also have photo ops. It was great that there is a selection of photos since the autograph was pre-sold. The next autograph was for Grace Caroline Currey who was in Annabelle: Creation (2017) and Shazam! (2019). I brought along the Shazam! Fury of the Gods Special: Shazamily Matters #1. It tied into the Shazam: Fury of the Gods film and written by the cast like Currey and Zachary Levi and the director, David F. Sandberg!

In line, her father, Damian Fulton, saw the comic which he said was the first time he saw it! Note: always try to bring comic book tie-ins. He said he provided the art for “Darla’s Birthday”, written by Currey. She also had not seen the comic at the signing and she said she wanted to use the Crocodile-Men in her story. Next, I headed to the South Hall, at the steps was a massive photo op of all of the Spider-cosplayers. At the IDW booth, they had Frank Tieri, the writer of Godzilla: Here Be Monsters

Also there was Godzilla: War For Humanity creators, Andrew Maclean and Jake Smith, and we riffed on a story with Godzilla married to King Kong, very funny! They added Mothra as a marriage counselor. In Artist’s Alley was Brian Buccelato who wrote Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong! He mentioned that there will be an ultimate battle in issue #3! There was two costumes of Alison Doody’s Elsa from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) at the SWAU Booth. There were panels of Harry Potter actors; Bonnie Wright, and James & Oliver Phelps.

Later, there were the Ahsoka actors; Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Eman Esfadi, Ivanna Sakhno, and Diana Lee Inosanto. Esfadi said he didn’t want to make any lightsaber sounds, but still ahd redo a scene because the audio picked him up making blaster sounds, “Pew pew pew!”, lol. Diana Lee Inosanto requested that her last scene had her weapon used against her! Sakhno said her definitive chaacter scenes were one on one with Baylan and on the hill igniting her lightsaber. The L.A. Comic Con had some great panels, autograph sessions, and filled with amazing artists, writers, and cosplayers!
