Last Day - L.A. Comic Con!

Today, December 3rd, Sunday, was the close of the L.A. Comic Con! The attendence seemed less than the intense Saturday, but I saw the same enthusiasm from the beginning to the very end of the con. I had two interviews that I was able to conduct. This took up most of the morning and both persons were very fun to have conversations. The interviews will be posted in the future, but just to give a bit of information, one is cosplayer and the other is an artist! The advantage of going a second day, I was able to find some back issues for comic creators at the con to get signed. Also, I found the table of Guy Gilchrist, Jim Henson’s Artist. He was the creator of Jim Henson’s Muppets Comic Strip (1981-1986)! He had Kermit the Frog by his side! Check out his site at: https://guyspops.com!

It is always to great to see actress, Jackie Dallas, at the Geekfest Film Fests booth! She has upcoming the tv series, Leave Quietly, playing Tonya. Also, the drama, Miles Underwater, and the action movie, Darkness of Man, with Jean-Claude Van Damme! On the floor was a cosplayer who made a great Bumblebee Transformer. Also, the perfect bounce house for kids, Millennium Falcon: Hyperspace Jump Experience. Inside was an R2-D2 and the dejarik hologram table! So it was also great to stop by the Droid Builders. I also stopped by the Saber Guild Los Angeles. Next to them was a table for the Ahsoka stunt actors and coordinator! Ming Qui was the stunt coordinator who also was the stunt double for Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Qui also played Jedi Master Minas Velti in Obi-Wan Kenobi. She defended the younglings at the Jedi Temple in “Part 1” (2022). Her work with the lightsaber scenes are just so impressive.

The selfie combos offered at the table included some shots using lightsabers from the Saber Guild! Another stunt person was Morgan Benoit who doubled Baylan Skoll. Benoit also doubled for Huyang in his fight scene. He said the lightsaber style was like the long Claymore sword that was familiar to Ray Stevenson and samurai! His first film was the Jackie Chan action movie, The Forbidden Kingdom (2008), on of my favorites. Next to him was Chau Naumova who doubled for Natasha Liu Bordizzo playing Sabine Wren. She was in one of my favorite scenes in the series, the Zatochi practice in “Part Three: Time to Fly.” Naumova also played New Republic X-Wing pilot, Lt. Jensu, who rescues Ahsoka. Young Ahsoka double, Rissa Kilar, was also the assistant at the table taking pics and helping with transactions! Killar doubled for Dafne Keen, X-23, in Logan (2017). It was also great to see the booth of The Last Lumenian, the sci fi fantasy book series by S.G. Blaise. Check out: https://sgblaise.com. L.A. Comic Con featured many talented authors, artists, cosplayers, and stunt people. It returns next year on October 4-6th!
