We are getting closer to the nature of the Swamp Thing and last episode, Jason Woodrue is drawn into obsession about the Swamp Thing. Night, at the bridge, the words of Alec Holland is heard by Swamp Thing. He lumbers through the trees and is caught in a bear trap. Hunters fire darts at him from rifles, but Swamp Thing escapes. The hunters were sent by Avery Sunderland. He of course is a danger and wants to capture The Swamp Thing. The leader seems to be the contact given by Avery to Woodrue. Swamp Thing turns the tables on the hunters, throwing thorns that takes down two of the hunters, and the rest leave on a motorboat. At the hospital lab, Woodrue is looking at a sample, and injects it into n IV fluid bag. Liz and Abby look at Daniel Cassidy whom Abby says that he will remain in a coma. She brings up Avery’s threat to her and Abby leaves to confront Avery.

At a set is Daniel Cassidy who is asked if he is a stuntman. The executive asks if Daniel would do a favor for him. We saw last episode that Daniel was knocked out at the bar so this is a memory. The hospital, Abby faces Avery, she questions him about the threats against Liz. Abby gets a call from the e.r. Liz is bringing her to a patient saying he was attacked by a “swamp monster.” The police station, Sheriff Cable says to Matt about the murder of Dubois to protect him, she wonders why Avery hired Matt. He knows about the blackmail Avery has against her. Matt is thinking about a transfer. The sheriff is informed about the attacks. She assigns Matt to the case. The fluid bag is attached to Cassidy’s IV. Flashback, the favor of Daniel by the executive is for some unknown purpose. He is then informed that he will play the Blue Devil. I thought the Swamp Thing connection would be used by Woodrue, but maybe the solution activates Daniel’s power.
Alarms are activated and Daniel is wakened in pain. Woodrue walks in to see the reaction. Liz runs to see if she can help him. At the swamp, Abby takes a motorboat to check on Alec, the Swamp Thing. He brings up The Green. This is also from last episode where the Phantom Stranger brought up The Green. They hear hunters and Swamp Thing leaves. Avery enters the house of Jason Woodrue. He brings up his experiment on Daniel Cassidy. Woodrue tells him about the brain injury and says he used the Swamp Thing sample. Avery wants an understandable report from him. Woodrue brings up Dr. Arcane. Matt Cable is checking the swamp and then finds footprints. He sends the other officer in the boat and takes the shotgun following the tracks. Then, he sees Abby. The Swamp Thing slams Matt against a tree, but Abby shouts to Alec to stop. She tries to explain what happened to Alec.

The Swamp Thing tells Matt about the boat and the “flash” at the time of his murder. Matt sends away the other officer. He’s an ally to both of them? Jason Woodrue is looking his computer when his wife says she wants to go home that night. The bar, Liz looks for Daniel, he staggers in. Caroline Woodrue is startled by Daniel at her window. He starts to burn. Avery has a shotgun. Caroline injects him in the back with a needle and Daniel collapses. Abby tells Matt about “the darkness” out in the swamp. Matt says he will bury the report. Matt returns to the police station. He goes to the sheriff’s office. Xanadu walks over to Daniel Cassidy in the hospital bed. She puts her hand on his forehead to try to take away his pain. The Swamp Thing flashes back to memories of Abby. He sees her at his lab and explains to her about the stranger, the Phantom Stranger, but he doesn’t want to leave Abby. A flower appears on his palm. The Swamp Thing is more of a romantic figure than Alec Holland. This episode focuses on the transformation of Daniel Cassidy and the hunt of the Swamp Thing!
