Happy Birthday Idris Elba OBE!  He was in the supernatural series, Ultraviolet (1998) playing Vaughn Rice.  Later, he was in the tv movie of Ultraviolet (2000).  Russell `Stringer’ Bell was played by Elba in The Wire (2002-2004).  He had his first EP, Big Man, and continued his musical career.  He appeared in the horror movie, The Reaping (2007).  Elba was in the drama, American Gangster (2007) starring alongside Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.  Then, he was in Guy Ritchie’s crime film, RocknRolla (2008). He played Charles Miner is 2009 episodes of the American comedy series, The Office.  A well known role was the brilliant DCI John Luther in the crime drama, Luther, from 2010 until 2019.  One of his first comic book adaptations was The Losers (2010) playing Roque based on the comic book by Andy Diggle and Jock.  Elba entered the MCU playing Heimdall in Thor (2011). He played Moreau in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011).  Next, he was in the sci fi movie, Prometheus (2012).  Elba portrayed Stacker Pentecost in Pacific Rim (2013) directed by Guillermo del Toro. 

 He then played Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013).  Elba returned as Heimdall in Thor: The Dark World (2013).  In 2015, he had his first album Murdah Love John (The John Luther Character Album).  Another Heimdall part was in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).  He stunned as the commandant in Beasts of No Nation (2015).  Elba voiced Chief Bogo in Zootopia (2016).  In 2016, he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).  Another voice role for Elba was as Shere Khan in The Jungle Book (2016).  He also played Fluke in the Pixar sequel, Finding Dory (2016).  The villanous Krall was portrayed by Elba in Star Trek Beyond (2016).  Elba played the Gunslinger, Roland, in The Dark Tower (2017) an adaptation of Stephen King’s work.  He was back as Heimdall in Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and also Avengers: Infinity War (2018).  He created the comedy series, In the Long Run, where he starred as Walter moving to East London in the 1980s with his family from Sierra Leone.  Elba was the black Superman, Brixton, in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019).  Elba played Macavity in the movie, Cats (2019), ok, then was in Concrete Cowboy (2020) for Netflix. This year, Elba is playing Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad!  Upcoming, he has a film version of the hit series, Luther!  Happy Birthday Idris Elba!
